Chick-fil-A has offered breakfast since 1986, starting with the now-classic Chick-fil-A Chicken Biscuit and eventually growing the morning menu to include a breakfast burrito and even a full bacon breakfast platter. And for the first time in six years, there is a new Chick-fil-A breakfast sandwich: the Egg White Grill Breakfast Sandwich. It’s a piece of grilled chicken breast with freshly grilled egg whites and American cheese, served on a multigrain English muffin. The new Chick-fil-a breakfast sandwich is designed to be the “perfect solution for our health-conscious customers looking for a grab-and-go breakfast,” says David Farmer, vice president of menu strategy and development, in a press release.
And it definitely packs some kind of punch. The sandwich comes in at 25 grams of protein and 300 calories. (For some context, the original Chick-fil-A Chicken Biscuit is 440 calories and only 16 grams of protein, while the Chicken Platter is 680 calories.) This new sandwich also makes Chick-fil-A “one of the first fast food restaurants to offer grilled chicken as a breakfast option,” according to the press release, and is part of the company’s attempt to offer a more diverse menu to accommodate different diets.
As Thrillist points out though, the new Chick-fil-A breakfast sandwich isn’t exactly new. It’s been available exclusively at the chain’s giant New York City store since it first opened in October 2015—until today.
So if you’re ready to try some grilled chicken for breakfast, you can grab an Egg White Grill Breakfast Sandwich for $3.35 at your local Chick-Fil-A. Just make sure you get over there early, because unlike some other fast food chains, there’s no all-day breakfast here.
